Eh not much to say just trying to get through life with out making too many mistakes. I feel I've gotten a second chance and trying to do my best with it. I won't lie, I'm not the most organized or well put together person but my heart is usually in the right place.

I graduated from university two years ago (scary to think about!). I work for a reproductive health organization, and love it. I'm looking to meet like-minded, open individuals. People who challenge socialized notions, who make me want to be a better person.

I am much more of a city nightlife person than an outdoorsy type, but occasionally its good to get outside (...and by nightlife I don't mean clubs down on 6th Street. I don't own any Ed Hardy shirts!)

I am an employed artist, world traveler and recovering alcoholic. I have bounced around a lot in my life, living in other countries and other cities in the U. S., but right now I am feeling more settled than I ever have. I have set up a good career here in town and want to see that through.

Accepting people for who they are and figuring out what I need to learn from them is something that comes to me naturally. I like pretty much everyone I meet, flawed or not, so chances are very good I'll like you too!

I am originally from Cleveland and I recently moved back to put myself through school. I used to live in San Francisco and before that, Miami. I consider myself intelligent, outgoing, caring, honest, loving, down to earth and laid back. I work hard and try to surround myself with like-minded people. I have a wonderful family and amazing friends and I would do just about anything they ask of me. I care deeply about the environment and about people in general and I try to find something beautiful in everything. I am artistic and creative and I love to paint and draw, listen to all sorts of music and catch some movies from time to time. I consider myself to have a great sense of humor and I can laugh at most anything, usually at myself. I also exercise daily, go to yoga class twice a week and play the drums.

I'm a young-ish professional living in Cleveland Heights. While not disregarding the more superficial things that play into attraction among men and women, I do believe that one of the greatest things that can happen in a relationship is the feeling that we understand and 'get' one another. That feeling is intangible, but both people know when it's there, and it's worth seeking out. I'm looking for a woman who understands and wants that quality as well. I'm a quiet, generally reserved guy. I can be pretty funny once I'm comfortable around someone and am definitely the kind of friend you can rely on. I like going out to bars now and then, eating at restaurants, the occassional outdoor activity (if it's with the right person), and just staying in and chilling. I enjoy the theater, and "cultural activities" in general, but rarely have the opportunity to go.

I recently moved to the Cleveland area from the West Coast. I like it out here, but I'm still getting used to the colder weather. I keep myself pretty busy and I appreciate my down time. I was born and raised in Western New York and moved here after I finished my Bachelor's to continue my education. I'm a fan of hockey but for the most part I don't have a strong interest in other sports. I greatly enjoy playing video games ranging from XBox games like Bioshock and Gears of War to my DS games like Pokemon and Zelda Spirit Tracks. I like to travel and have seen a large percentage of the country and am looking to start exploring the rest of the world. I am open to just about any kind of activity and am always willing to try something at least once.

The toughest part of writing a self-summary is that it has to be about me. I love to write about things, places and other people. I love to write about relationships and ideas. I can't stand to write about myself. It's difficult because I'm learning that my life's meaning ensues when I focus on giving of myself.

Making my life be about other people is what makes me happy. I have 4 children of my own and I'm very close to my ex-wife's son. Giving to them, as their father (or father figure) brings me immeasurable joy. I'm not saying that can't make me a little crazy.

Personal relationships are the same way. I've noticed that when I try to do things for another person, that's when I derive the most joy from the relationship. It's worked in every facet of a relationship, too.

I enjoy the occasional slow nights in, playing some games with friends via XBOX Live or watching a movie, but when the weather is nice I would like to be out at night either walking around Coventry, downtown Willoughby or catching an Indians game. I can't determine what I am capable of, or what is worth getting out of life. The age old question of "should I give a fuck" haunts me. I am in a life-dilemma. The only way to appreciate life is to give a fuck. In order to become more successful, make your own life more convenient, feel good in general, you must give a fuck. Giving a fuck is the only thing that motivates anybody to do ANYTHING. Even hippies who claim they don't give a fuck are hypocrites; they must give a fuck as a motivation to go and buy drugs and.. muffins. Even experiencing fun requires one to "give a fuck" about the quality of fun. It's ridiculous. Don't tell me you aren't self-conscious about anything. Oh, you "care" all right. Everything stresses you. You care so much and you're lying through your teeth.

So life is what you make of it, huh? Such a notion affirms what I think. What you MAKE of it? So you essentially have to create all the substance you get out of life? This notion pretty much implies that the value of life comes from your imagination. If substance is imagined, it isn't real. Therefore, there is no substance in life. People who "appreciate life to the fullest" are essentially living a life, or should I say living a lie of make-believe. And if I say this to someone they might insist I stop giving a fuck. Huh? Life's lack of quality doesn't change if I stop acknowledging it.

I feel no firm confirmation that I ever experience real pleasure when I'm having a "good time." When I experience "pleasure" I feel as though "emotions" deceive me into believing that joy is real. If joy is authentic, we must instinctively know it and questioning it should not be desirable.

If joy is not an illusion, life should contain substance. However, when a quality in life isn't superficial, it is not necessarily substantial. Searching for substance in life is like peeling an onion, going beyond superficiality in finding layers and layers of concepts and ideas, while in the end there is no core , no ultimate meaning of life. If life has no meaning then we must live it in order to experience pleasure. This leads to Kurt Vonnegut's notion that "our purpose in life is to fart around." Of course if we choose to live when there is no substantial reason to be alive "farting around" is your only option. Oh yeah, and maintaining a career that provides the luxury of "farting around" is a necessity. Farting around too much can lead you to a psychiatric ward. Farting around can hurt and annoy other people. Farting around can result in a criminal activity. Seems counter intuitive when pursuing our ONLY purpose in life is very problematic.

This philosophical notion is quoted most by the people who tell others to not give a fuck, usually as a means to shut them up. Such people acknowledge life shouldn't be taken seriously, yet they take the concept of fun and pervert it in order to suit their selfish wants. They also do not make a dichotomy between taking things too seriously and giving a fuck. The two concepts aren't the same.

In the process of obsessively seeking new ways to experience 'fun' and avoiding rational discussion, people ironically and counter-intuitively end up taking the concept of fun too seriously.

I try not to care about things too much, but life ceases to be fun when my actions hurt or annoy others. Life is fun when I take the right things seriously. Therefore I am the one who truly understands what it means to not take life too seriously. As I say I experience "fun" it should be implied that I refer to the illusion of fun. I choose to pursue the illusion in hope that the illusion comes true, but never mind.

Since joy is never genuine, and life is never precious, suicide seems like the only logical solution. However, I don't plan to commit suicide now because I hope to see what life is like when I am more content, have transitioned to adulthood, and have achieved much more of what I want/need. I am generally on this site when I am procrastinating/pretending to learn about myself and others. In other words, I joined this site for the tests way back in the day (I think it was actually a different site at the time and my profile just transferred over). However, it wouldn't be a bad thing if I happen to "meet" some cool people along the way.

I often surprise people because I don't fit into general stereotypes. I know that sounds really contrived, but just for kicks, here's a quick example: I am religious, politically liberal, and figuring out my life after studying engineering at an Ivy-League university. I enjoy planned and spontaneous adventures, getting dizzy, long talks, spending ridiculous amounts of time in the theater (I'm a techie), dancing, silly camp games, and much, much more (I'm pretty easily amused). I'm pretty shy, but I've been told often that I am loud and I'll also do kind of crazy things in front of people and not really care.

This is where I say something about how hard self-summaries are and how you should probably contact me if you actually want to get to know me. As an OKCupid user yourself, you've probably filled one out and already know that... that doesn't make it any less true, though.

I am a student. I live alone and work full-time, actually more than full-time. I am currently pursuing a college degree in engineering (either electrical or mechanical, not quite sure yet) and am not going to be done for quite a while. I have a good job, and woo-hoo, they pay for school. My only time I have free are pretty much the weekends. I moved up here about three years ago and don't know many people besides the ones I met at work. I'm a pretty quite guy, and only really talk when I need to. I don't know why. I'm not your typical "pretty face" w/nothing behind it. I think a lot of people who just see me and don't actually get to know me would probably assume that I have the "look" of a party-type girl that gets hit on all the time, etc. etc.. But, in all actuality, there's much more to me than that. I'm a mysterious (I'm a Scorpio so that's how I roll~ lol), intelligent, sassy, fashionable kinda girl! I'm more reserved than most girls so it takes me a bit to open up, but I do have a lil party side to me as well. I like staying in watching a movie just as much as a night out on the town, I like a good balance in between. I love dressing up nice to go out, but I'm also the kind of girl who will throw on some comfy clothes and get dirty (as in doing yard work or the like). I'm trying the whole online dating thing, b/c honestly, I don't think the odds are high of me meeting my ideal guy out at a bar on Friday night throwing cheesy pick-up lines at me, haha! My ideal guy would be intelligent, attractive, honest, laid back, affectionate, and have a good sense of humor (fyi love sarcasm!) as well as style. FYI: my #1 turnoff is smoking and I won't date a guy if he smokes. Another important thing to note is that I need a mature man who won't play head games; I'm actually looking for something that will hopefully have the potential (down the line) to develop into something long term. I would like to find someone that would like to do different things ranging anywhere from: a night in, to taking a hike, going to the beach, going to a comedy club, a bar/restaurant, wineries/wine bars, museums, or even the theatre.
