St. Ann Elementary School Reviews

Tremendous inconsistency of faculty. It seems that students do nothing but complete workbook pages throughout the day. Innovative instruction is lacking.

The academics at St. Ann School are excellent. Yes. There is foreign language, art and music (my child participated in all three). However, there's an insidious bullying problem there so much so that the principal is beginning a no-bullying policy/program there for the 2007-2008 school year.

Terrible math. No foreign language. No art. No music. Oh, emphasis on sports but no Phys. Ed. instructions. The kids just play, and the instructor grades them on how he feels they rank in ability. Oh, and they'll be forced to attend religious services, wear uniforms, and be quiet. Not quite as dangerous as the nearby public schools. I suggest you relocate to a better district.

St. Ann is not a perfect school; but what school is? If you want your child to learn civility and respect in a no tolerance atmosphere, I'd recommend it. My children are taught in a top notch curriculum. The teachers are generally committed and responsive. The sports programs are great because of the dedicated parent volunteers. Every 8th grader last year was accepted to their first high school choice, which says a lot for the education, I believe. As far as the reading in the upper school, children read what they want and write about the book. They must read 1 hour each night and write about what they read. I give St. Ann's an A-plus with extra credit.

St Ann's is a wonderful school. The parents are very involved, and the teachers are very engaged when it comes to making sure the students have learned the needed material.

Don't bother wasting your time or money here. It can be better invested in public schools. As a former student, i was taunted and teased by almost EVERY student (with 30 per grade, there's not a lot of room to make friends). If your child isn't part of the 'in crowd' with the church in kindergarden, the next years are going to be horrible like they were for me. Don't waste your time or money.

St. Anns provides a welcoming, friendly environment for younger students. However, the school is just not up to snuff academically for older students. There is no challenge in the curriculum. 8th graders read books with a reading level of 5 (designating 5th grade), such as The Westing Game. The math program is also severely lacking, moving at a much slower pace than most other schools. The science program in the junior high is, however, terriffic. It is a shame that graduating students may be deficient in so many other areas.

St. Ann is a wonderful school environment for a full range of children and their abilities. The school is well run, organized, and caring. My children not only achieve academically buy learn kindness, manners and concern for others. I see a big difference in my children since they left public school and attended St. Ann. I am very impressed with the administration, teachers and staff. They have helped my children learn in many areas. St Ann educates the whole person. There are many 'extras' at St. Ann: music - band, music lessons, vocal, choir; sports; art; language - French & Spanish. The science labs are state of the art. Labs of this caliber are not usually found in a grade school. K-8 uses the science labs. The building is well maintained, bright, clean and safe. Children eat lunch at school.
